Robert Partridge

A pseudonym used by Peter Grainger

After too many years telling others how to do it, I decided that it was time to write something myself; taking a somewhat early retirement has enabled me to do just that. It's harder than it looks (sorry students) but once you've started, you don't want to stop. When I'm not writing, I'm often reading. Occasionally I get distracted and go fishing, birdwatching or pursuing obscure insects. Music matters too - I'll listen to almost anything that isn't repetitive or obscene! But Dylan, Cohen and John Martyn aren't likely to be replaced by any newcomers at this stage in my game.

It's fair to say that I am more interested in character and style than I am in complicated plots that rely on coincidence - people who just want to know what happens next should download elsewhere. Similarly, I must leave vampires, alien invasions, plane crashes, fantasy, exhausting sex scenes and happy endings to others - real life as lived by ordinary people is quite enough for me to deal with!

I have now published under another name four novels in the traditional British detective genre and some readers have asked for details of those - so, here they are: 'An Accidental Death', 'But For The Grace', 'Luck and Judgement' and 'Persons of Interest', all by Peter Grainger. That's a name you'll recognise if you've read 'Afon'!

Thanks for looking me up.
