Things in Ohio are different than in Pennsylvania. No matter what Zach does to avoid Lucinda Schrock, he finds that she is always underfoot. And while he tries to stay out of her way, there is something rather appealing about the doe-eyed daughter of the bishop. He decides to write a letter to Katie, explaining how he feels so that he can finally let Lucinda know about his intentions with his girl back home.

Katie, however, is still dealing with Abraham and Mary. While the community is still on lockdown, she’s beginning to wonder why. No one has gotten sick, a fact that she learns when Abraham still insists that she accompanies him to check on all the church members. She also cannot get used to his tendency to ask her questions about Scripture or thoughts about the people in the church. And she notices disturbing changes in Mary, too. If only she had someone that she could ask for advice...
