It usually isn’t good news when a sleepy little place like Dunforth, New Hampshire gets international attention.
When a long-haul trucker wins millions from a scratch-off ticket, it’s no surprise that he’s slated as the first guest on a new morning talk show called The Espresso @ Eight, hosted by disgraced-journalist Riley Robertson.
Projections for viewership were modest – until the millionaire took a few sips of his coffee and dropped dead on live television.
Whispers of the tragedy flow into the Roastery on 33rd not long after, and barista Paige Palmer can’t help but listen. Things take a decidedly dangerous turn when it comes to light that the bag of coffee beans was sold to the station by Margaret Hayward, Paige’s boss.
Margaret insists on her innocence in the matter, believing it to be one mystery better left in the hands of the police. Paige isn’t convinced, and neither is British transplant Rohan Chowdhury.
As The Roastery on 33rd begins training new staff, the million-dollar question hangs in the air like the aroma of a freshly-prepared espresso.
