Scarlet

A chance encounter in her local gym brings 79-year-old Marsha face to face with the mirror image of her lost daughter, Scarlet. The resemblance is striking – the same hazel eyes that mix blue, gold, grey and amber, the same long, dark, exuberant hair, the same unusual name, the same indescribable joy at seeing the girl she assumed lost for ever now standing before her. Unable to bear the prospect of another loss, Marsha deliberately fosters the relationship with this second woman, forty-something gym-bunny, Scarlet, who has just arrived in the area from Dubai and needs a guide and mentor. As their friendship develops beyond the mother/daughter paradigm, both women explore hitherto unknown aspects of their personalities, take risks that push them to extremes, and, after misadventures, challenges and downright folly, finally learn wisdom and acceptance.
