I almost lost her in a fire.
Lyric started out as my boss, and maybe we were on our way to being friends too.Until the fire.
Then everything changed.
She was burned and Trick or Treat, where we worked, was decimated.
Until the rebuild.
Turns out I needed to be rebuilt too because I couldn’t get to her. I could only watch as someone else rescued her because I was so freaking helpless.
Until I learned.
Suddenly, I could focus on nothing other than becoming a firefighter.
It was the only way I could combat the sense of futility I’d felt.
The unrelenting fear of losing her.
Becoming a firefighter strengthened my sense of purpose. And my need for Lyric. Watching her come fully back to herself after dealing with PTSD from what she’d gone through made me fall for her. She was the strongest woman I’d ever known.
In time, I wasn’t only a reminder of that horrible day. I was the person who loved her most in this world.
And now the three of us may find our forever. Together.
Author Note: Jensen and Lyric literally came together in fire and like all forms of alchemy, it changed them in the most elemental of ways. She runs from her fear and he runs toward it. This book ends with a HEA and no cliffhanger.
