As a die-hard fan of the legendary rock band Backdoor Clouds, I scoff at the idea of rock stars being anything but trouble. More accurately, I refuse to believe the band's infamous and uber-talented drummer Belle–whom I refer to using his real name Luka Dodik, thank you very much–is that way, despite being known for his wild lifestyle.When the enigmatic musician himself walks into the restaurant where I work as a waitress, I'm more than down with serving him. After closing time turns into the best night of my life, I now believe all rock stars deserve their reputations for living jaded, fast-paced lives of excess, women, and privilege.
The only good thing to come of that night is my burning desire to enter my first art contest and win. I'm convinced my design will grace the cover of the band's upcoming album so Belle can see what a formerly optimistic woman like me can do.
The only problem? I didn't know he entered the contest too. And he's standing next to me as the winner is revealed. Never mind all the sweet nothings he whispers in my ear.
