When an anonymous caller summons Bill Habermann, P. I., to the scene of a murder, he is plunged into the underworld of organized crime and a plot to control Chicago?s water supply. As the corpses keep piling up, Habermann is swept into the arms of a beautiful woman: Sharon Syracusa, the wife of one of the murder victims, who was also the son of a retired mob leader.
