Candice Ransom

Candice Ransom, who has never wanted to be anything else besides a childrens book writer, has published 110 books for children and young adults.

Her work includes board books, picture books, easy readers, chapter books, middle grade fiction, tween fiction, biographies, and nonfiction.  More than 45 of her books have been translated into 12 languages.


She is an accomplished speaker and has delivered keynote addresses at many reading council conferences, library conferences, and writers conferences.  In 2008, she spoke at the International Reading Association annual convention and the Texas State Reading Association annual conference.  In 2009, she was a keynote speaker at the Virginia State Reading Association annual conference.  She regularly travels to schools to talk about her books.

Candice graduated in 2004 with her MFA in writing for children from Vermont College.  She earned her MA in childrens literature at Hollins University in 2007.  In 2006, she taught in the brief-residency MFA writing program at Spalding University.  She now teaches in the MA/MFA childrens literature program at Hollins University.
