Duncan McBaird, a young knight in the employ of Duke Connal Gallach in Falkirk, Scotland, just happens to be in love with the duke’s daughter, Una. He is devastated when Una, who loves him back, informs him that her father has arranged her marriage to Horas Ginne, son of Duke Frang Guinne of Bannockburn. Then, insult is added to injury when Duncan is assigned to the contingent of Connal’s knights who are to travel to Bannockburn to escort Horas back to Falkirk.

Douglas Craig, a young English knight, is sent to Scotland to assist the cabal that is opposed to Scotland’s boy king, David II, and want to replace him on the throne with Edward Balliol.

The paths of these two young men cross as each side vies for influence, leading to a dramatic face off in the moors of southern Scotland.
