Jacob Blade and Penny Coppersmith decide to move their outlaw hunting efforts to Wyoming Territory. When they are deep inside the wide open spaces and magnificent landscapes of the territory, they come upon a burning farm and a grieving widow who tells them that her husband had just been killed by a band of marauding Cheyenne warriors. Jacob and Penny offer to track them down, when Jacob discovers that the tracks show that the marauders are riding shod horses, something the Native Americans never do.
The mystery deepens when they do meet a Cheyenne band, lead by Standing Bear, who are looking for a mysterious group that murdered two of their people in Montana to the north. They agree to join Jacob and Penny in the search, which leads Jacob to the mysterious town of Euclid, run by an enigmatic man named Morgan Chance and populated by a strange assortment of people, some of whom are clearly up to no good.
Mystery piles atop mystery as Jacob seeks to unravel the tangled web that Chance has woven, leading to an explosive confrontation that will change some people’s lives forever.
