Rusty Rhodes is chasing a bank robber who is heading north toward the Mojave Desert, when he comes across a young man who has been beaten and left to die on the edge of the desert. After patching young Billy Tate up, Rusty learns that he was beaten by two men working for the mayor of the mining town of Sundown, but he has no idea why they did it. He puts his search for the fugitive on hold and takes Tate home, determined to find out what’s going on in Sundown. That’s when the fun begins.
