Three Seasons At Askrigg

Carrie Ward takes her orphaned niece, Emily, to live in the home of her brother-in-law at Askrigg Farm. While the child's grandmother welcomes the new arrivals warmly, Emily's uncle, John Garth, has little kindness to offer them. But, as the seasons pass, Carrie learns that the austere surroundings that once frightened her have a beauty all their own - and that a man who is as stern and stubborn as the rugged hills of Yorkshire may possess a tenderness which the most genteel suitor cannot rival.
