Beyond the farthest reaches of our world lies another, similar to our own. A world full of magic, strange creatures, and races from Norse Legends. It lies on Yggdrasil, the great world tree, along the same branch as Midgard (Earth). According to the Norse, there are Nine Major Realms along Yggdrasil, but many lesser realms as well. The World of Valgard is one of them.

Balcus Ironheart is a dwarven warrior driven by the desire to help his clan and kin. He is fiercely loyal to those he cares about and will face any threat to help them. He returns to the Kingdom of Myrannor, only to find everything is not as he remembers—political intrigue and double-dealing plague the kingdom. And to make matters worse, a dark new threat endangers their very existence.

Balcus and a crew of veteran warriors must take on an impossible task that will lead them into the depths of the mountains, far below where no dwarves have ever gone. A terrifying evil awaits them in the deep darkness of the caverns far below. It is a creature that cannot be stopped by any weapon or magic that they possess.

Can they defeat this ancient evil in time to save their kingdom? Can they complete their mission and stop the traitors who seek to turn clan against clan and seize the throne of Myrannor? Balcus must use every weapon and resource in his arsenal with unblinking courage and a “Heart of Iron.”
