Three riveting and witty, Christmas themed mysteries from Yorkshire housewife, ex-police officer turned radio presenter and private investigator, Christine Capper.
Mrs Cappers Christmas
Is it an armed robbery or a terrorist incident? Either way its making ex-police officer turned blogger, vlogger, and private investigator, Christine Capper late for an appointment at Haxford public library.
Her former colleagues dont seem to be making much headway in the search for the towns infrequent serial killer the Graveyard Poisoner. Not that it has any bearing on Christines work, but shes, well, simply nosy.
With three murders to follow, a vandalised spy camera, library books missing, one of her favourite shopkeepers hospitalised, an automobile obsessed husband, and a lazy cat, Christine is getting nowhere fast, and to compound matters, she keeps forgetting to festoon her wall clock with Christmas decorations. Its all part of Mrs Cappers Christmas.
Murder at Christmas Manor
Christmas comes but once a year, and all the omens are against Christine: an offer from Radio Haxford which compels her to think about her future, a two-day event for the radio team at Christmas Manor which involves the sheer dread of speaking before a live audience, and husband Dennis warning her that the worst weather for years is due to hit the moors around Haxford.
She crosses swords with one of the manors major investors, and also with the internationally known soprano booked to entertain the VIP guests, and it doesnt take long for matters to deteriorate. A body is found, the manor is snowed in, the police cant get there for at least another twelve hours, and DI Paddy Quinn asks Christine to make the initial inquiries.
Supported by friends from Radio Haxford, she battles resentment from the hotel owners, staff, and guests. Shes missing her family and cant get home, feeling the pressure of her new calling, and shes so relieved when the police finally arrive. But by then there are more bodies to explain.
The Christmas Festival Murder
Christine arrested, suspected of murder, charged with assault. What is going on?
Hired to find a valuable, antique engagement ring believed stolen, called up to attend the Haxford Christmas Festival fancy dress ball, when a young woman is murdered, Christine is stunned to find that she is the prime suspect. And it doesnt take long for matters to sink further.
Named and shamed in the media, at loggerheads with her friends, she can only call on her reserves of courage and fiery determination to clear her name.
Does the murder have anything to do with the missing ring? How deeply are the Haxford Larpers involved? Will telling her story on TV make matters better or worse?
Spend Christmas with Christine, her auto-obsessed husband, Dennis and their curmudgeonly cat, Cappy the Cat.
