(Book 12 in the Mrs Capper's Casebook series)
A novel by

After an unexpected phone call from her daughter it’s a week in the windy, rainy Scarborough area for Christine and auto-obsessed husband, Dennis.

But things are far from well at Turpin’s Caravan Park, and when one of the staff is murdered, Ingrid Capper and her partner, Darren Tranter find themselves accused. Can Mrs Capper, exonerate her daughter?

It all starts to go wrong from the outset. A catastrophic breakdown leads to her holding up motorway traffic, she finds the park managed by an autocratic woman with something to hide, and then there’s a police inspector convinced of Ingrid’s guilt, an entertainment crew reluctant to speak out, a barman angry after being sacked, all mixed in with a young performer who’s determined to impress her on the grounds that’s he’s from Haxford. And as if that’s not enough, Dennis is tempted by a classic car for sale.

All this on a caravan park which has a dark history. Is the place really cursed?

After a second murder, it’s a tough call for Haxford’s only licensed private investigator, and it’s made worse by her having to use her husband as a sidekick, loud music giving her a headache, and having to dress up for a Halloween party.

Captivated by the sweet singing voice of her daughter, visiting the seafronts of Scarborough, Bridlington, Filey, and Whitby, Christine leaves no stone unturned in an effort to clear Ingrid’s name, and the only genuine conclusion she can safely reach is…
