It’s Valentine’s Day in Bitter End, Florida!
A reason to celebrate love for most people—a reason to hurl for Piper Harris, the new security person at the Till the Bitter End Independent Living, her assigned location in the witness protection program, alongside her gran.
Piper and Gran are only trying to survive the week-long festivities at the retirement complex: from archery, complete with a Wheel of Love and a Cupid character, to a movie night on the lawn, culminating in a Valentine’s Day party where residents dress as famous couples.
Too bad Piper would rather chug a bottle of rum and wrestle gators in her biker outfit than partake in this nonsense.
Also too bad when Cupid turns up dead in the archery area, shot in the chest by a crossbow arrow.
With all signs pointing to murder, Piper’s new job as kinda-sorta seniors’ law enforcement detail takes on new meaning, and she needs to step in and solve the case.
Between sifting through a suspect list longer than Gran’s list of complaints about Florida, and a streak of inflatable-related mishaps, Piper, Gran, and Edie leave no stone unturned in their investigation.
To complicate matters, Piper finds herself increasingly drawn to Ryker, but their competing investigations get in the way of an almost-kiss that leaves Piper questioning everything. Getting involved could blow her cover, but the heart wants what it wants.
