Deputy US Marshal Jim Blaine is sent on what should be a routine job that quickly becomes tough and merciless. Finding Will Penner, the Circle P rancher, stripped to the waist and staked out in the burning sun, he realises he's up against the worst type of hardcase. He immediately rides into Wind Creek, Kansas, to do his duty.
The local law is ineffectual and Blaine has to compensate for that. He knows who was masterminding the crookedness but he must prove it, and that is going to be tough. He goes about it the only way he knew - with hard fists and flaming guns...
Lewis Brant is one of fifty pseudonyms for British author, Donald S. Rowland, who was born in Norfolk, England. It was only in 1964 that he dedicated his time to writing full-time and has since written a variety of novels, from science-fiction to westerns.
