Asmund joins his dead shield-brother Asvith in his tomb, lying down alongside Asvith's slain horse and hound as a willing sacrifice. But something evil dwells in the darkness of the ancient chambered barrow, haunting the shadows. A draugr, a barrow wight, an eater of the dead and slayer of living men. Asmund fights the creature as it possesses his friend's body...and suddenly he is not so sure that his decision to join Asvith in death was the right one...Will he prevail and feel the sun on his face once more, or will the barrow wight claim both body and spirit?
