Lewis Robinson recommends
Lungfish (2022)
Meghan Gilliss
"At the center of this miraculous and absorbing book is a bracing portrait of a young woman at a pivotal moment in her life. Meghan Gilliss has a rare and electrifying talent for illuminating the precise rhythms of thought and feeling--while also keeping us lovingly immersed in the grit and brine and lucid fascinations of island living. This novel is an absolute treasure."
Elsey Come Home (2019)
Susan Conley
"I love Elseyher vulnerability, and self-awareness, and her love for her daughters, which permeates the novel. This book is lush with colors, smells, and sounds, and has a compulsive, deeply gratifying shape. We’re allowed to witness Elsey in all her glory, even when she’s unable to see herself clearly."
All the Blue-eyed Angels (2012)
(Erin Solomon Mysteries, book 1)
Jen Blood
"Jen Blood has created my favorite narrator of the decade: the whip-smart, sassy, and delightfully stubborn Erin Solomon. The story she tells--with its hidden turns, dry humor, enthralling pace, persuasive complexity, and vivid setting--is absolutely unforgettable. Blood is one hell of a writer."
