The mobs are getting smarter. Sara tells me that it’s just the more complex programming of the higher-level creatures, but some of these mobs are just way too… human. Like the man who attacked me while I was off doing a quest that I really shouldn’t have been doing (I told Sara that I was just going to town to take a rest). He tried to kill me, and he would have succeeded had I not knocked him over a ledge.
I was sure that he was a real guy, but Sara thinks I’ve lost my mind; there aren’t any signs of survivors inside of that simulation. She explains that the game has a complex Player-Versus-Player system programmed into it, with tons of unique rewards for killing other human players, but there’s no sane reason for anyone to be trying to kill other humans now, under the extreme circumstances…
No sane reason… But this marauder, and his friends, might not be so sane. They might just be after those rare, unique prizes, even if it means cutting down their fellow man.
