Mara Rutherford began her writing career as a journalist but quickly discovered she far preferred fantasy to reality. Originally from California, Mara has since lived all over the world along with her Marine-turned-diplomat husband. A triplet born on Leap Day, Mara holds a Master's degree in Cultural Studies from the University of London. When she's not writing or chasing after her two sons, she can usually be found pushing the boundaries of her comfort zone, whether at a traditional Russian banya or an Incan archaeological site. Crown of Coral and Pearl is her first novel.

Beating fiercely within its gilded cage, the dark heart of this brilliant and sinister reimagining will haunt you long after you close its pages."

"Deftly blending folklore, poetry, and horror into something wholly original, Before the Devil Knows You're Here immersed me in its world of poisoned apples and deadly bargains. This is a story to savor."
The Forest Grimm (2023)
(Forest Grimm, book 1)
Kathryn Purdie
"Fast-paced and romantic, Kathryn Purdie lured me into a thrilling world where familiar fairytales are turned inside out and nothing is at seems. Once I entered the dark heart of the Forest Grimm, I never wanted to leave."
