In Cannes. during Film Festival week, with her ambitious actress friend Diana, poor Cherry was feeling thoroughly unhappy and out of her depth. She as neither an actress nor ambitious; she was shy and unassuming, and not very happy in the company of men - certainly not the kind of men who abounded on the Riviera; rich, cynical jet-setters who expected and usually got - one thing from the women they encountered.
