Ace and Kit's world is turned upside down when Ace is arrested for the murder of Joshua Cleve, a Private Investigator residing in New Braunfels, TX. Ace and Cleve have crossed paths before, and Ace has left a trail of the bad blood between them. The murder occurred on a night when Ace was working a discreet case in Dallas, a case he is sworn to secrecy never to comment on. As witnesses turn up pointing a finger toward Ace, the future looks darker. The easiest way to prove Ace's innocence is to find the killer and expose him or her, however, that is made more difficult by the fact everyone believes Ace to be guilty. Ace and Kit struggle against the New Braunfels Police Department and the fingers pointed in his direction. It is a race between Dallas and New Braunfels as they dig to discover any clue that will prove Ace could not have killed Cleve -- and to determine why the witnesses are lying.
