Beth Bowman, Private Investigator based in Coral Lakes, Florida, is contacted by John Hammonds, top defense lawyer in the area. He hires her to prove Ms. Luella Parkson not guilty of performing a drive-by shooting in a notoriously bad section of Coral Lakes. Beth is thrilled to work for Hammonds, knowing it will enhance her career, but a bit perplexed by the scope of the task. The police have a seemingly airtight case against Ms. Parkson, mostly circumstantial, but supported by a confidential informant. As she launces her investigation, complications arise in her personal life. She struggles to handle both aspects of her life even as she, herself, is pursued by a killer only to have another more paralyzing complication arise. Why can't life ever be simple?
