Marta Landen began her sensational acting career in Nazi Germany and continued it during the post-war era. Now retired and living in an isolated mansion in the tyrol with her husband and son, she hires a beautiful young writer to ghost her memoirs. Ina Sperling arrives to begin her job only to find that the aging actress has vanished. Awed by the dark and brooding atmosphere of the house and mystified by the disappearance of her employer, she nonetheless begins her work. But prying into the past leads Ina to the conclusion that Marta has either been kidnapped or murdered. Someone will stop at nothing to keep the actress's stpry a secret and this unseen and deadly enemy has now become Ina's as well.
