The Turn-up

The slums are swept away from a northern town and a large community re-housed. Evidence revealed by excavations for a motorway through the flattened foundations of the past throws the police into a crime of which the trail is very, very cold. Detective Chief Superintendent Evans and his men are faced with piecing together forgotten facts, reconstructing a vanished district and re-peopling streets and houses that once existed. This leads eventually to a detection - of a murder not recognised as such until The Turn-up.
