Melanie Briggs has had her share of bad luck lately. From the cracked glass in the front window of her hair salon to the leaky faucet she’s dealing with at home, she’s isn’t sure how much more she can take. Having a man in her life would sure make things a little easier, but then shed have to deal with her brother, Colin, constantly looking over her shoulder and being all up in her business. She’s not a little girl anymore, so Colin needs to back off and give her some space.
When her car breaks down less than a mile from her house, she doesn’t know if she should laugh or cry. Can one more thing possibly go wrong in her life?
Mason McKinnon can’t seem to get rid of the target on his back. Though he’s tried to lay low these last couple of years, folks around town don’t forget a thing. They’d rather remind him of what he did years ago than see the good he’s doing now. It’s not easy having his own vehicle repair shop, but he’s somehow managing to stay afloat and that’s all that matters right now.
When he stops to help a stranded motorist on the way into work, he’s shocked to see it’s his former best friend’s little sister. The last thing he wants is to stir up trouble with Colin again, but he sure is having a difficult time keeping his eyes focused on her car and not on her.
Mason wants to ask her out and he’s quite certain Melanie will say yes, but will an over-protective brother stand in the way of these two pursuing happiness? It’s time for Colin Briggs to mind his own business once and for all.
