This world has its own laws and is in no particular rush to welcome newcomers. A wide river separates the deadly lands of Haitana from human domains, and thousands of uprooted new arrivals are now wandering along its banks. They don’t have much of a choice: die a horrible death from the hands of multiple enemies or go into indentured servitude in the more civilized areas down the river. The cavalry is not coming, there is no way back, and death is but a wrong step away. Not even cannibals dare settle permanently around these parts, and only the ancient ruins stand as a silent reminder of the region’s former glory. Yet the resilient earthlings live, love, and fight—all in the never-ending pursuit of happiness.
There’s just no other way.
