Dani Shapiro recommends
The Mythmakers (2023)
Keziah Weir
"A meditation on art and memory, a twisty literary mystery, and the story of a young woman's emergence into her true self, The Mythmakers is full of surprise and delight."
The Covenant of Water (2022)
Abraham Verghese
"This majestic, sweeping story of family secrets - their curse, their legacy, and their cure - is intimate and profound. Abraham Verghese takes us on a journey across nearly a century and more than one continent, all the while dazzling with his rich, elegant prose. Verghese is a literary legend at the height of his extraordinary powers."
The Deceptions (2022)
Jill Bialosky
"I was immediately swept away by this searing, elegant portrait of a woman in a place of psychological and emotional precarity. Jill Bialosky brings us with great delicacy and arresting sensuality into a world which becomes so real we cannot look away. The Deceptions is at once mesmerizing and masterful."
