In this short mystery of approximately 3000 words, a young free black girl finds herself accused of treason in Valley Forge during the winter encampment of 1777-78, and must discover the real traitor to save herself.

GINSENG TEA won National Council for Literature's 1996 Fiction Award.

The author, ELENA SANTANGELO, is an avid history buff who pens the semi-historical Possessed Mystery Series. She has worked for the Park Service at Valley Forge, and currently researches colonial American music for the ensemble Colonial Revelers.
