The Love of an Amish Carpenter

(2018)
A Story by

Elmo Yoder is the middle son of a carpenter, shunned and socially excluded by his Amish community for consorting with the Englishers.

Nancy Whetstone is intrigued by Elmo's intrepidity, being somewhat challenging of the Amish restrictions herself. While Elmo works in his daed's woodwork shop, Nancy works in her family's ice-cream shop. Against the regulations of the shunning, Nancy approached Elmo in the hopes of getting better acquainted. It was not long before the two youngsters were spending a great deal of time in each other's company. It seemed that Nancy's little brother's view that ice-cream was all you need to make the world right, might prove just the path to securing Elmo's heart.

Would Elmo be prepared to seek forgiveness from the community to have the hope of a life with Nancy? Could the Whetstones look past the ordung to see the promise behind the young man in love with their daughter? How might the bishop look upon the shunned man and his place in the ordung now that he had refused to ask their forgiveness? With only the acceptance and unconditional love of their younger brothers to encourage them, can Nancy and Elmo find the grace to persevere, despite life's hardships?

Take your place in the fellowship of this close community to find out what the future and Gott has in store for these two families, and Nancy and Elmo in particular.
