Rick Joyce is in a tough spot. After his relationship falls apart and he loses his job, he finds himself living back at home with his widowed mother. But he's decided to make the best of the situation and bring some cheer to her in the form of a birdhouse he once built with his late father. Full of nostalgia and love, it's the perfect remedy to the gloom both Rick and his mother are experiencing. It's too bad then that their pompous neighbor across the street, Ned Gerfinger, has to meddle where he doesn't belong. Like his father before him, Rick will have to face the troubling Gerfinger, and in the process come to terms with his own place in life.
