A short story, a Halloween treat...
Winnie Brown cannot get to the Pomroys Halloween masquerade party fast enough. But shes responsible for her sister, Agatha, until their parents return. When its clear Winnie is going to miss the great masquerade unmasking if she doesnt get moving, she drops Agatha at the childrens costume party and walks unchaperoned through town.
Unseasonal snowfall begins and Winnie gets the sense that perhaps she isnt alone after all. A slip on the ice, a bump on her head, broken spectacles, and an old locket leave her unsettled and questioning everything that happens on the way to the Pomroy's.
Her arrival at the party leaves her fellow guests and the town of Oakmont with as many questions as answers about the mysterious locket and Winnies solo walk. Over a century of Halloween lore and a very special family business were born that night.
The fictional tale, Masquerade, was written to benefit the KERR MEMORIAL MUSEUM in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. All proceeds will lend support to the house museum and its mission. Visit the Kerr online and in person to learn more about its history and its current tours and events.
