Kirsty was The Guardian's Scottish correspondent. She also teaches crerative writing. Her first novel, MOTHER'S DAY, was acquired in a two book deal by a pre-emptive offer from Hodder, on the basis of just a third of the full manuscript. It tells the story of the friendships between four mothers whose children all attend the same exclusive private school in Edinburgh. It is a wonderfully absorbing tale - funny, warm, moving, pacy and utterly compelling, with real insight and humanity. Kirsty is simply a brilliant story-teller. MOTHER'S DAY was published in hardback in Spring 2006 and quickly became a best-seller.
