Seso spent five years in a mansion from hell.

Escaping from that black hell was luck, escaping from the caves underneath, would take all his will power and the kindness from a Demon he can't see.

Mei's lived in the caves for years seeing dead bodies dropped from the trash shoots over and over again. But this time, the body is alive and determined to escape the caves. Considering he can't see in the dark, like her, she doubts he will make it far. Not to mention the spaceship sized spiders that lurk on the walls and other creatures that live under the water.

The safest thing would be to convince him to stay with her, but freedom sounds so much better.
