The Sister Code

(2018)
A novel by

The Sister Code was birthed from a need to share a time-honored sacred Sisterly code with Sisters everywhere. Prior to its publication, the Sister code was only shared secretly amongst Sisters. It was a whisper here, a giggle there, but never fully documented for fear that Bros would discover all of our secrets and use them against us. After years of field research, I can safely say that Bros won't read these codes. They have no desire to learn about the inner workings of their female better halves, but their ignorance has caused a rift between the sexes and many an argument between the Mars and Venus counterparts. There are always two sides to a story: History and, the ever more accurate, Sistory that has long been forgotten and ignored. However, The Sister Code would not have been possible without The Bro Code (History) by Barney Stinson and Matt Khun. I wrote The Sister Code as a parody of The Bro Code because I felt that it was only fair for Sisters to have a code of their own. One that would share their side of the story and that would prepare them for life's challenges, which mostly involve Bros.
So how did a Sister come to find out about The Bro Code you ask? It all started with a student of mine who was, dare I say, obsessed with The Bro Code. He brought the book everywhere and even read from it to his Bros when he was driving to school. His friends voiced their fear for their lives, but this student gave a new meaning to "speed reading." He thought it was so inspiring that he wanted to share it with me, his English teacher. He ignored the pleas of his Bros and not only shared The Bro Code with me, but he also asked me to be his wingwoman. We had our own secret handshake and he's been my Bro ever since. It is with great thanks to him and the writers of The Bro Code, Barney Stinson and Matt Khun, for inspiring me to be the voice for Sisters everywhere.
As a parody, the articles in The Sister Code are in some cases based on articles in The Bro Code, but with a Sister's spin on them. In all cases, the articles are codes for Sisters to live by. Codes inspired not only by my own real-life experiences, but also those of my Sisters and our Sister ancestors. So, now after ten years of waiting for the right time to share these codes with the world, I have decided to publish them, most fittingly, in the year of the Sister: 2018. It is with my pleasure that I present The Sister Code.
