First contact in the 19th century!
Geoffrey Mann is a washed-up first mate on the washed-up clipper ship Prospero, hauling tea from China to England. The captain and crew are weary, jaded sailors who barely keep the ship on course and on schedule, and Mann would rather be anywhere else; but the sea is his father's legacy and the only career he knows. He is adrift in life, slowly sinking down into despair like most in the crew.
But one fateful night, as a storm passes, Mann spots a new star in the sky. The Prospero finds a lifeboat from a distant world, and they rescue the lady Ariel, a creature who churns their dreams and disturbs their complacency. Mann must hold his crew together, put down a mutiny, and keep Ariel safe, or the ship may be lost to pirates.
