Was it coincidence that the radio and engine of the Maui Queen went dead at the same time? Not likely. And the compass spinning uncontrollably--was this some kind of magnetic field? I didn't know what to think! Suddenly the boat began to spin, slowly at first, then faster like a carousel. I began to feel a sinking sensation as if the world were slipping into oblivion. Perhaps it was, for I slumped to the deck and remembered no more. When I awoke my journey had just begun. I had traveled through a dimensional warp and was now in another world very similar to my own, yet very primitive and strange. It was an island called Boranga--a place I wish I'd never known.
