What ho, Max!
It had been a while since we last visited England, and as far as I''m concerned, that was a good thing. You see, cats hate to travel. In that sense we’re the ultimate homebodies. But then trouble broke out in a remote corner of Old Blighty, and suddenly the owners of Bumbleford Hall, that ancient pile in the heart of Shropshire, were calling on Odelia to jump on a plane and give them a helping hand with an issue that had arisen at Lord and Lady Parry’s country seat.
The Hall had been the scene of delicate negotiations between the eternally feuding nations of Upper and Lower Sclerosia, and one of the points of contention were the Sclerosian Crown Jewels. With the jewels stolen, war was all but a certainty, and so Odelia was tasked with their urgent retrieval.
Dragging us across the Atlantic was one thing, expecting us to blend in at a grand English estate quite another. Before we knew it, we were knee-deep in doddering earls, backstabbing diplomats and scandalous affairs that made the Downton Abbey crown look positively tame.
And that was even before we met Baroness of Bumbleford, quite possibly the largest pig in the world. And she hated cats!
Genre: Cozy Mystery
