Announcing my new novel, first in a series of 21st century spy stories, published exclusively on Amazon kdp
The Last Walk features recently retired field active investigator John Wallace, whose beloved wife Jane died in her thirties of breast cancer. Wallace had worked for the Research and Reference Office, a semi-official London organization engaged in locating and handing over elusive persons of interest to the intelligence community.
After his wifes death, Wallace inherited her assets and became financially independent.
Bereaved and disillusioned with his career, Wallace walked away from the RRO, certain that he would never return.
So that when his former boss at the RRO, Deputy Controller Frank Mitchell, tries to
re-engage his services, Wallace refuses, and removes himself from London.
And soon finds himself a hunted man. In a gripping series of events he is targeted, shot at, and narrowly escapes with his life. Frank Mitchell isnt so lucky. He is shot dead when Wallace goes to see him at his country house. And Wallace immediately becomes chief suspect in the Mitchell murder inquiry. Is the RRO out to get him? Or is it some other, more sinister intelligence organization?
Wallace goes on the run, with a new identity. Using all his field craft, perfected over seventeen years as an active investigator, Wallace is determined to track down those responsible, expose them and put an end to his persecution.
Because if he does not, he will never be free to return to the quiet, blameless life
he now wishes to lead. He will always be pursued, looking over his shoulder in doubt, fear and dread.
