Son of a Salty Witch
(2024)(The first book in the Exorcising Midlife Demons series)
A novel by Rachael Stapleton
Today was supposed to be a good day. I woke up happy, stable and not craving cookies for once, and then I went and unleashed something dark on this poor town. Something darker than my ex-hooligans secrets.
Speak of the devil, I remember complaining once, ten years ago, that raising kids while living with hot flashes and internal rage was pure hell. Let me tell you, it was a cakewalk compared to now. Being a woman of a certain age, who's coping with the betrayal of one husband, and the death of another is decidedly worse. And getting more hellish by the second.
When I decided to clean under my step-son's bed before camp today, I was expecting stiff socks and half-eaten sandwiches, not satanic sigils and an evil skull that would try to kill me. But that's life as a single, middle-aged mom to teenagers... apparently.
Funny enough, the whole incident has sparked my magic back to life and no one can understand how. Least of all, me. You see, I have no memory of ever having been a witch. Just what did I do to deserve such a harsh punishment and will the council forgive me and allow me to keep my magic unbound? More importantly will they help me save my son from the demons that now plague him?
