Just weeks ago, Arthur Pendragon discovered what it means to be the Child of the Prophecy, and the Realm of Lloegyr discovered a deadly new enemy, the Black Queen, whose sights are set on resurrecting the Dragon King, the evil sorcerer responsible for creating the Wasteland. No one yet knows who the Black Queen is, but Prince Morgen of Camelot is convinced he knows at least one person who is in league with her: Prince Rienec of Lyonesse. Morgen now finds himself in Lyonesse's capitol city, Tyntagel, to witness the betrothal of young Lady Isolde to Marc, the King of Prydain. But before Marc's envoy can arrive to escort Isolde north to meet her husband-to-be, their ship is attacked, and the only two survivors - Dame Rane, a knight of King Marc's household guard, and Tristan, an Acolyte of the Royal Academy at Ineswitrin - are convinced the Black Queen was behind the disaster. Surrounded by enemies, Morgen, Rane, and Tristan must act fast to save Lady Isolde from Rienec's clutches. For it has come to light that Isolde is a sorceress, one almost as powerful as the Faerie Queen herself. The Black Queen no doubt has evil plans for her - but, as Isolde's would-be protectors soon discover, she is not the only prize the Black Queen is after.
