THERE had been more snow during the night and Brunnenheim sparkled like a fairytale village under the dazzling whiteness of it. The peak of the Schillehberg looked almost close enough to touch as it soared up into the clear blue sky and the thick snow on its upper reaches was dyed gold by the morning sun. It was. a sight that always inspired Sophie whenever she looked from her window and saw it, and it was even more breathtaking at sunset when the evening light stained the whole magnificent peak a deep rosy crimson.
Switzerland was a country that presented such breathtaking scenes as a matter of course, and Sophie could even forget the occasional discomfort of her present situation for most of the time and enjoy herself. She loved the clear light air, and the mountains that swept down into valleys, cradling little villages like Brunnenheim in their midst, or balancing them precariously part way down a tree-clad slope.
Genre: Romance
