Charlotte was delighted when her mothers old friend Martha Berganza invited her to, come to Spain as her secretary-companion-and she found herself loving Spain even more than she had expected to. The only snag was that she did- seem to spend rather- a lot of time being rescued from various predicaments by the local lord of the manor, the imposing Don Gerardo Cortez. But it all resulted in Charlotte becoming rather more than a little interested in Don Gerardo which rather interfered with Aunt Marthas plans for marrying Charlotte off to her son Luis!
