I've owned this book in paperback for a very long time, and I re-read it every couple of years.
It came to me the other day I wanted to read it again, and I was overjoyed it was in Kindle format.
This is a very funny book, in a dry sort of way. The protagonist is drawn into a world of spies and intrigue, for which he is completely unprepared. To his great relief, he turns out to succeed in bumbling through it, sustained by the will to believe of the characters around him (who have been led to believe he's a super-spy).
The book is full of lovely moments where Agent Nye confronts an impossible situation, yet finds his way out of it more or less by accident. It's a hymn to the idea, never give up. But above all, it's a lot of fun. It's a short, fast-moving read and the world will look a little more interesting to you when you finish it. (Oh -- and you get to meet James Bond. Watch for him.)
I've got to explore more Sheckley, since so many of his books seem to be on Kindle.
