Robert Silverberg's well deserved reputation for acidulous satire is exemplified in the opening story of this delightful collection. Indeed, the title of the book itself is surely a satiric comment on the fallible romanticism of mankind, eyes firmly set on the stars, feet firmly marching off on a self-destruct path. Fortunately Mr Silverberg is equally at home with humor - especially when it comes to computers with a nervous desire for obscenity.
