Stewart Sterling was the pseudonym of Prentice Winchell, an American writer who also wrote under the names of Spencer Dean and Jay de Bekker. Winchell wrote numerous detective stories about non-typical characters in non-typical investigative bodies, such as the NY Harbor Police and the Fire Brigade. In addition to the books and the many magazine stories, Winchell wrote radio scripts.
