Wealthy suburban housewife Clare Durant has had several near brushes with death. The police suspect a serial stalker. When, in a horrible case of mistaken identity, Clare ends up shooting and killing her husband, police collect enough evidence to suggest that the death may not have been accidental, but intentional. Clare is put on trial, where her attorney insists that, no matter who was killed, it was still a case of self-defense. In the end, the verdict has little to do with justice. But, perhaps, justice has its own way of triumphing, after all.
