Having been wounded in action in Afghanistan, Mark Aston quits the SAS only to discover that life on Civvy Street isn't all it's cracked up to be. Divorced, homeless, drinking heavily, Aston returns to his rural home town and prepares himself for life on the streets. But behind the genteel facade of the quiet market town lies a darker undercurrent of petty crime and gang culture. When a fellow down-and-out, a Falklands War veteran named Jock Mohoney, is murdered by yobs high on a cocktail of drink and drugs supplied by a local Muslim gang, Aston decides it's time to act. Teaming up with former SAS colleague Ravi Azoor, he succeeds in infiltrating the gang only to discover that it's part of a far larger network whose tentacles reach all the way to Taliban warlord and drug baron, Dr Zam-Zama. When Aston uncovers evidence of a secret deal between the SIS and Zam-Zama, allowing him access to the lucrative British market, he finds there are those within the highest circles of power who will stop at nothing to ensure the truth remains hidden. Now on the run, Aston and Ravi decide they have no alternative but to embark on the almost suicidal mission of taking out the drug gang themselves.
