Hard into the Storm picks up the story right after Book 2. Captain Aurelio Lupetti must acquire a stolen weapon capable of reducing planets to rubble and deliver it to safekeeping aboard the Miyosian super-secret battle station known as the House of the Silent Moons.
Very few aliens know where the old Empire placed this derelict as the last act of fading Imperial power. Lupetti learns it contains a vast repository of technology and cultural treasures from alien civilizations stretching back two million years. As an unaligned human who has proven himself trustworthy, the Miyosians ask Aurelio to deliver the only prototype of the weapon known as the World Crusher to their secret, AI automated base for safekeeping and future defense planning.
